Robyn McVicker is a purpose-driven visionary leader, passionate about building brands that inspire and deliver operational and service excellence.
Robyn’s unique background reflects distinction in complex operational environments, major events, brand building, communications and marketing. Her passion is building and motivating engaged teams that deliver beyond expectation.
With over 25 years of experience in leadership, Robyn has led operations, communications and events at some of British Columbia’s marquee organizations including Vancouver Airport Authority, Canada Place Corporation and Capilano Suspension Bridge Group. She joined Vancouver International Airport (YVR) to lead the Communications & Marketing team through a period of intense growth as YVR pursued its goal of becoming the preeminent transpacific hub. The team was rewarded for its efforts with numerous international awards, including Best Marketing Team at World Routes. Known for exceptional creativity, stakeholder engagement and dedication to community, Robyn built a community engagement program that expanded YVR’s commitment to accessibility and barrier-free travel.
In 2018, Robyn became the Vice President of Operations and Maintenance at YVR – accountable for the safe and efficient operation of Canada’s second busiest airport. Responsible for the entire operational system, including airside, baggage, terminal, emergency planning and response, and passenger programs, Robyn redesigned the passenger experience to improve flow, introduced increased digital interfaces, and continued to deliver exceptional guest service. Robyn led the organization in its response to the COVID-19 pandemic, ensuring those who had to travel and work at the airport could do so safely. In 2020, Robyn’s role shifted to Vice President of Passenger Journey, which included the terminal and day of operations, emergency planning and response and added the Commercial portfolio.
Robyn is a trusted media spokesperson and a key voice at national and international tables. Since 2015, Robyn was honoured to be on Destination Vancouver’s Board of Directors and served as Interim Chair in 2020 and Chair in 2021-2022. She was also a vocal member of the Airports Council International Standing Committee on Facilitation and Security, including Vice Chair in 2022. Robyn has served on key local committees to inform and promote events and tourism in Vancouver’s parks and downtown.
Robyn holds a Bachelor’s Degree in History from Simon Fraser University and a Master’s Degree in Leadership from Royal Roads University, where she focussed her thesis on the role of business in the community.
Robyn finds great joy in singing in the Universal Gospel Choir- Vancouver’s most established gospel choir. An avid traveller, Robyn loves to explore and pursue adventures around the world, particularly the lesser trod paths of Greece.
