The announcement today, made by Minister of Veterans Affairs of Canada Ginette Petitpas Taylor, included the team in action as they trained for Sitting Volleyball, Wheelchair Rugby and Wheelchair Basketball, three of the eleven Invictus Games 2025 sport competitions.

The announcement event welcomed media and several esteemed guests to meet the competitors who will be representing Canada next year in Vancouver and Whistler and see them in action as they prepare for the Games. Also in attendance were former Team Canada vice-captain Alaina Mundy (Invictus Games Dusseldorf 2023) and Natacha Dupuis (Invictus Games Orlando 2016 and Invictus Games Toronto 2017), a multiple medal winner and a champion for the Invictus Games mission.

Natacha reminded the Team Canada 2025 competitors that they are not their injury, that their injury does not define them. She affirmed that what defines them is their incredible courage, resilience and determination.

Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler 2025 CEO Scott Moore also attended the event and shares a message for all Canadians.

“There are unsung heroes amongst us: meet Team Canada Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler 2025,” he said. “Let’s get to know them. Let’s understand their journey of recovery through sport. And in doing so, let’s be inspired in our own lives. Through their willingness to put their lives on the line for all of us, and as a result of their incredible courage and unconquerable spirit, they embody the Invictus spirit.”
