Vancouver, BC — December 8th, 2023 — With just under 14 months to go until the start of the Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler 2025 presented by ATCO, the Florida Panthers have generously donated a full-size NCAA basketball court which will be used by the wounded, injured and sick service members who will compete at the Games in February 2025.

The floor will be installed in the Vancouver Convention Centre and will host wheelchair basketball and wheelchair rugby competitions. The high-quality surface was originally housed at the Panthers home stadium, Amerant Bank Arena, and was used during the Orange Bowl Basketball Classic tournament.

The floor received a warm send off from Panthers mascot, Stanley the Panther. It then made the long 4,000 kilometers journey from the Florida Panthers home in Sunrise, Florida to Vancouver. Before being re-used for the Games in February 2025, it will be stored in a Vancouver warehouse for safekeeping, courtesy of our partners, London Drugs.

The Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler 2025 is also grateful for the generous support from our local hockey team, Canucks Sports & Entertainment. The Canucks will kindly be donating the use of Rogers Arena for the Celebration Ceremony which will mark the closing moment of the Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler 2025 on February 16th. The Vancouver Canucks will also be hosting former Team Canada Invictus Games competitors at their Armed Forces Night on December 9th.

This generous donation demonstrates the Panthers continued support for the military and veteran communities,” said Robyn McVicker, Chief Operating Officer and Deputy CEO of Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler 2025. “Sport has the power to bring people together and empower individuals to help them on their recovery journey. We’re looking forward to working with partners across the sporting world to deliver a world class games for our wounded, injured and sick competitors and their friends and family.”
